The Tremains Story
Tremains has a rich history rooted in family values and a commitment to excellence. It all began in 1970 when Kel Tremain, an All Black and rugby legend, founded Tremains in Hawke's Bay. Kel embodied the core values of the All Blacks culture. He believed in a clear and well-communicated vision, fostering a humble, hungry, and smart "hive mind" where teamwork thrived.
After Kel's passing in 1992, his son ChrisTremain took the reins and successfully led the business for several years. However, Chris eventually pursued a political career, leaving the responsibility in the hands of Simon Tremain, Kel's middle son. Simon, has since taken Tremains to new heights, expanding its reach beyond Hawke's Bay into provincial New Zealand.
Under Simon's leadership, Tremains has grown exponentially, establishing five offices across Hawke's Bay. In 2018, the brand expanded further into Taupo, Rotorua, and Tauranga through strategic partnerships with existing leading real estate businesses. Recognizing the potential in new markets, the business extended its presence to Wairarapa in 2019 and Levin in 2023.
Throughout its journey, Tremains has remained deeply committed to its family values of trust, excellence, community, and fun. The company actively supports and sponsors a wide array of local clubs, organisations, and events, playing an integral role in the communities it serves. In addition, Tremains has initiated various community projects, including the Tremains Christmas Lights, and the Tremains Community Trust, further strengthening its ties with the community.
With Kel's legacy living on through the leadership of Simon and the continued involvement of Chris, Tremains is poised to build upon its achievements and create an even brighter future for all those it serves.
Tremains is proud to be a sponsor of St John New Zealand, a charity that Kiwis’ lives depend upon. Every New Zealander has some interaction with St John at some point in their lives – and that interaction can be lifesaving.
Here at Tremains, we’re eternally grateful for the service St John provide to New Zealanders. Our sponsorship is a small way that we can give back – for ourselves, and on behalf of our communities. As a company we pride ourselves on being community focused, and we’re proud to support an organisation whose values align perfectly with ours. St John is a fundamental part of New Zealand society, and one of the country’s most trusted organisations.
The St John’s mission of… “We step forward, when help is needed. For better. For life.”...is something we can stand behind wholeheartedly – and St John have expressed their excitement at collaborating with a company who shares similar values as they do.
Tremains is delighted to be able to give back to our communities via our sponsorship - with an allocation of funds from each successful sale going directly to St John. It will also give our sales consultants a chance to individually give back to their communities outside of real estate via actions such as the St John’s Annual Appeal Month held annually. Keep an eye out for Tremains sales consultants collecting for St John throughout our regions, and getting involved in other St John’s activities throughout the year.
