We start 2018 with a bang with January already proving to be a huge month, seeing great buyer activity both from locals making changes in the New Year as well as out-of-towners moving into the region. Our agents haven’t had much of a break through the holiday period, fielding plenty of enquiry and seeing huge numbers through our open homes. Last year the housing market in Hawke’s Bay grew by $56 million, with house prices rising $56,250 between January and December 2017, with stats from REINZ showing a 17% jump in the market from 2016. Baby-boomers were the biggest movers to the region, no doubt identifying the many positives of living in the Bay; the sunshine hours, wineries, cycle trails and a relaxed lifestyle mixed with vibrant cities and a buoyant economy fuelled by progressive businesses.
We repeat the past at the Tremains Art Deco Festival on the 14th – 18th February, when Hawke’s Bay is taken back to an era of excess. For five days, the region is transformed into a scene straight out of the roaring ‘20’s, drawing 40,000 visitors into our region. As with any large event that brings people into the city, it is a great time to bring your property to the market in order to maximise the exposure to out-of-towners. As well as many visitors purchasing homes themselves after discovering the Bay, outside interest also helps to push the locals to pay the top end of the range.
There is a fantastic array of free and ticketed events lined up for the 30th Anniversary of the Festival and you can pick up a programme at any of our Tremains offices. We have some great marketing packages available to ensure your property stands out in the market over this period, and you can also go in the draw to win tickets to the sold out Saturday night Prohibition Party, a thrilling night in a secret underground nightclub filled with live entertainment and non-stop music. The team here at Tremains will be dressing up to the nines, and getting right behind the Festival. Look out for our agents and photobooth over the weekend, where you can get your picture taken in an Art Deco Vintage car!
New Year is always a great time to kick off a new exercise programme. The Tremains Triathlon is a fun event to train for and with the event being held on 11th March this year, there is plenty of time to train. Everyone seems to be avoiding the work shouts and feeling a little sluggish after the break, so why not get a group of workmates or friends together and train as a group – you can choose from kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, cycling or running. Something for everyone and at all levels! We also have some exciting new course changes for our 2018 event so stay tuned in my upcoming comments for more information.
Enjoy your week, make the most of the Hawke’s Bay sunshine and see you soon at the Tremains Art Deco Festival!
